bo report daawat e ishq and khoobsurat dominate in second week new releases fail badly

New Delhi: Almost eight flicks released two days before but none of them could stand the last week's release Daawat-e-Ishq and Khoobsurat at box office.

However, many of them namely Mumbai Delhi Mumbai, Meinu Ek Ladki Chaahiye, Dear vs Bear couldn't even claim screens in theatres and multiplexes but the others which did like Desi Kattey, Chaarfuitya Chokhre, 3 AM, Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya, got a lukewarm response.

Desi Kattey which starred Sunil Shetty, Jay Bhanushali, Akhil Kapur, Sasha Agha, Tia Bajpai, Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles got an upper hand among the new releases with a collection of Rs 70 lacs on Day 1, according to leading website Koimoi. The movie was given a thumps down by the critics while the audience too was unimpressed with it.

Critics' mixed response to Soha Ali Khan starrer ‘Chaarfuitya Chokhre' couldn't help the flick garner audience at the ticket windows. The movie based on child trafficking just managed Rs 5 lacs on Friday. No pre-release buzz and promotions could be blamed for its apathetic response at box office.

VJ-turned-actor Ranvijay Singh's ‘3AM' still claimed a better collection of Rs 40 lacs on the opening day.

All in all, the second week belonged to the last week's releases again. Parineeti Chopra-Aditya Roy Kapoor starrer ‘Daawat-e-Ishq' garnered Rs 1 cr and Rs 1.30 cr on Friday and Saturday respectively adding which its nine days total now stands at Rs 22.75 cr  nett in India.

But it's Sonam Kapoor-Fawad Khan's ‘Khoobsurat' which leads ahead in the second week. The movie collected Rs 1.25 cr and Rs 1.75 cr on its second Friday and Saturday. However, its nine days total of Rs 22 cr just falls short of ‘Daawat-e-Ishq'.

These two movies shall continue to fetch more amount than all other releases in the next four days since two biggies and the most anticipated drama ‘Bang Bang' and ‘Haider' are set to take box office by storm from 2nd October.
