Here’s why Sara Ali Khan was roped in for Simmba and not Janhvi Kapoor

The makers of Simmba recently dropped the news that they have roped in Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan for their upcoming film with Ranveer Singh. Another report that is doing rounds in media is that Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor was also considered for this role. However, the situation unfolded in such a manner that Sara Ali Khan was finalised to star opposite Padmaavat star Ranveer Singh.

According to a Mumbai Mirror report, both Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan were approached for the role. However, Janhvi went around telling that she is the leading lady in Rohit Shetty’s Simmba even before the official confirmation. She even talked about how nervous she was to star alongside a star like Ranveer Singh. So as per the reports, it was Janhvi Kapoor’s motor-mouth that made her lose the film to Sara Ali Khan.

Kedarnath was supposed to be Sara Ali Khan first film in Bollywood, however, due to the rift between Abhishek Kapoor and KriArj Entertainment, the film has been pushed further. Kedarnath is not releasing as per its schedule. Thus, Simmba will be Sara’s debut film.

Janhvi Kapoor on the other hand, is film for her upcoming film Dhadak, which has been helmed by Shaishank Khaitan. It has been bankrolled by Karan Johar’s Dharma Production. Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khatter will be seen alongside Janhvi in the remake of Marathi blockbuster Sairat.

Another interesting fact is that both Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan will be launched under Karan Johar’s home production banner Dharma Productions.

Simmba will mark the first collaboration of Rohit Shetty with Ranveer Singh. According to the rumour mills, Ajay Devgn is also slated to do a cameo for the film. Sonu Sood will be playing the villain in the film, which is schedule to release on December 28, 2018.
