On Sunday, Akshay Kumar released a new poster of his upcoming film Padman. Though the poster had the same Akshay in the desi avatar, there was a alteration in the release date. Earlier, Twinkle Khanna’ production Padman was scheduled to release on April 13, 2018. But according to the new poster, the R. Balki film has been preponed to Republic Day, i.e. 26th January 2018.
Akshay tweeted: “Not all superheroes come with capes! Bringing you the true story of a real superhero, #Padman this Republic Day – 26th January, 2018!”
Padman is based on the real-life story of Arunachalam Muruganatham. It narrates the struggles of a man who invented a low-cost sanitary napkin making machine to help the women in his village.
But the matter in question is that Akshay Kumar’s another film 2.0 which also has Thalaiva Rajinikanth with him, is also slated to release on January 25th 2018. Does this mean that 2.0 and Padman will clash at the BO? Trade Guru Ramesh Bala told Indian Express that the film might get postpone to avert the clash. Clashes of two big movies on the box office will definitely affect their business. So, rescheduling of one of the films is expected.
“Looks like a delay with the VFX. The shooting has been done though with Amy Jackson recently wrapping up a song. Now that the Audio launch was successful, the news will not seem very negative. And also they’ll get more time to space out the teaser and trailer launch,” Ramesh told Indian Express.
He added, “The ideal release period looks like the summer vacation of 2018, which worked really well for Baahubali 2. They might look at using the vacation the most.”
Shankar’s 2.0 features Rajinikanth in the role of Dr. Vaseegaran and Chitti. Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson will also be seen in the film.
In 2.0 Akshay Kumar will be playing an antagonist while he’s playing a hero in Padman.
On the other hand, Neeraj Pandey is all set to release his film Aiyaary on January 26, 2018. It has Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee in pivotal roles.
