Kolkata, May 29: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was the cynosure of all eyes during a felicitation function of Kolkata Knight Riders, winners of IPL-5, today.

A busy Banerjee kept issuing instructions at the Eden Gardens to her ministers and Kolkata Mayor Sobhan Chatterjee soon after she entered the ground with the team from Writers' Buildings.

She led the victory lap, while asking the delirious crowd to keep restraint.

Later, she held hands with Shah Rukh Khan, co-owner of the KKR team and Governor M K Narayanan and sang with the Bangla bands to celebrate the victory of the Knights during the one-hour felicitation ceremony.

The capacity crowd of nearly 65,000 at the stadium cheered as the chief minister called co-owner Juhi Chawla and team captain Gautam Gambhir for cutting the cake.  Banerjee took the microphone to read out the inscription on the cake “Larechhi, Karechhi, Jitechhi (fought, done, won).”

Governor Narayanan lauded Banerjee saying that ‘true paribartan' had been ushered into West Bengal and asked spectators to give her a big hand.

A happy Banerjee said, “We are obliged. We are delighted.
Bengal has won today.”
