New Delhi: The Villain of the Year 2014 tag definitely goes to Islamic State supremo 43-year-old Iraqi-born Ibrahim Awad al-Badri, also known as Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
In six months, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi turned his little-known militia in Syria into one of the world's most dreaded outfit ISIS, or ISIL or Islamic State, of which he declared himself as the Caliph.
Baghdadi's army controls a large swathe of territory in Syria and Iraq, and is given a tough time to Nato countries and Kurds in neighbouring Turkey.
His army has less than 30,000 fighters, and most of the weaponry have been seized from fleeing Iraqi army personnel or Syrian soldiers.
The United States has raised the price on al-Baghdadi's head from $10 million to $25 million, the same amount that it is offering for Al Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri.
Baghdadi's men have beheaded a large number of Syrians, several Lebanese soldiers, at least 10 Kurds, two American journalists, one US and two UK aid workers in its demonic spree to instil fear in the minds of people.
Videos of such brutal beheadings have been posted on social media by ISIS men causing worldwide outrage.
The beheadings are only a small proportion of the large number of people executed by Islamic State fighters in Syria and Iraq.
