New Delhi: The enhanced security measures have been implemented in the holy cities -Varanasi (PM Narendra Modi's constituency), Mathura and Ayodhya - of the UP after some specific inputs were received by the state officials that these three cities may be targeted by terrorists in the month of Ramzan, a report published in TOI said.


The home department of the state has been asked to keep an eye on the security set up of the three cities, the report added.

The security agencies have also alerted the Akhilesh government that the miscreants may also attempt to disturb the social harmony in the religious cities.

The police headquarters and the home department officials have already started assessing the security set up in the religious cities. Sources said that the three cities have a completely different security plan.

Few days ago, the state government had decided to set up control centres in the three towns. The centres will be taken care of by special officers.

The state government is again assessing the security set up in terms of adequate barricade and CCTV cameras which are proposed to be installed in the districts.
