Curfew lifted in Varanasi; schools, colleges to remain closed today

Varanasi: Curfew has been lifted from all areas of Varanasi on Monday night hours after clashes erupted here between seers, who held a demonstration, and the cops.

Twelve people, including 8 policemen, were injured in widespread violence and arson here during a procession by seers and other locals, prompting authorities to impose curfew for a few hours to control the situation.
