Uttar Pradesh: Stones pelted at Bhopal-Delhi Vande Bharat Express train, window broken

The Window glass was broken after stones were pelted on the Vande Bharat Express train in Uttar Pradesh's Agra on Wednesday.

Stones were thrown at the Bhopal-Delhi Vande Bharat Express train on Wednesday near Agra Railway Division. However, the stone pelting incident didn't cause harm to any passenger but the glasses of the train’s coach were damaged, said officials.

According to railway sources, the stone pelting occurred on the train between Mania and Jajau stations of Agra Railway Division. The train was running from Bhopal to Delhi’s Nizamuddin station. On getting the information, the railway team reached the spot. PRO of Agra Railway Division Prashasti Srivastava said, "An investigation is on in the matter. No passengers got hurt in the incident."

This was not the first such incident, stones have been pelted at the Vande Bharat Express train running between Bhopal to Nizamuddin station earlier as well.  As per the reports, several incidents of stone pelting have damaged at least 30 window panes and doors. The majority of these stone pelting incidents took place on the route from Delhi to Agra.

Fire in Bhopal-Delhi Vande Bharat Express

Earlier on July 17, a fire broke out in a coach of Vande Bharat Express train going from Bhopal to Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin Terminal at Kurwai Kethora railway station in Madhya Pradesh. However, no injury was reported in the incident. 

Prime Minister Nareandra Modi on April 1, 2023,  flagged off the Vande Bharat Express train between Bhopal and New Delhi.  The train runs between the Rani Kamlapati railway station in Madhya Pradesh and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station in Delhi. The train covers 709 km in seven hours and 50 minutes and operates six-day a week except for Saturday.
