New Delhi:

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Wednesday gunned down two accused in connection with the firing incident at Bollywood actress Disha Patani's house in Bareilly last week. The encounter took place in Ghaziabad's Tronica City. The accused are reported to be members of the Goldy Brar-Rohit Godara gang, which claimed responsibility for the firing.

The accused suffered injuries in the gunfight and were undergoing treatment at a hospital, where they died, officials said.

Who were the accused?

The accused have been identified as Ravinda alias Kallu and Arun. Both were residents of Haryana. Ravindra was a resident of Kahni in Rohtak, while Arun hails from Gohana in Sonipat.

The STF says that both were active members of the Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara gang. Ravindra is a history sheeter wanted in many criminal cases. The police recovered Glock and Zigana pistols and several live cartridges.

About the case

Bareilly police had registered a case after the firing incident at the residence of Jagdish Singh Patani, father of actress Disha Patani, in Bareilly around 3.45 am on September 12. The attackers opened indiscriminate fire at the house, creating panic in the area. No one was injured in the firing. The gang claimed responsibility for the shooting, attributing it to retaliation for Disha's sister Khushbhoo Patani's purported remarks about a spiritual preacher over the latter's comments on live-in relationships in the country.

Taking serious note of the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had directed immediate investigation and strict action, reiterating the state government's zero-tolerance policy towards crime.
