Punjab is slated to go to the Assembly polls in 2022. In 2017 Assembly polls, Congress had won an absolute majority in the state by winning 77 seats and ousted the SAD-BJP government after 10 years.
The man has been identified as Lakhbir Singh, a resident of village Cheema Khurd in Tarn Taran district of Punjab.
Many party leaders admitted that Amarinder Singh will give the BJP's campaign a major boost and any tie-up will happen only once he clarifies his stand.
The vehicle in which Punjab BJP chief Ashwani Sharma was travelling was attacked by 30-40 people with bricks and sticks near the toll plaza in Hoshiarpur town on Monday evening, police said.
