ISRO Chief inaugurates satellite developed by Coimbatore college students
News | Jan 30, 2021, 11:09 AM ISTISRO Chief K Sivan inaugurated a private satellite, developed by a group of 12 students of Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology at the cost of Rs 2.5 crore. The academic satellite will be launched on February 28 from Sriharikota Range by PSLV C-15. This is the first time that a satellite developed by a private institute. The satellite will study Internet of Things (IoT) among other subjects.

However, in a major breakthrough, the data frozen on the big screens at the Mission Operations Complex at ISRO's Telemetry Tracking and Command Centre suggest a failure in the “fine braking phase” in the final part of Vikram’s journey (an altitude of 5 km to 400 m).

The Indian Space agency's clarification came after several fake social media accounts operating with K Sivan's name emerged in large numbers, more so after the Chandrayaan-2 mission. Several social media users were seen following these fake accounts including on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
