The Election Commission has ordered repolling on Sunday in six booths of the second phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections.
The ECI has put in place robust administrative safeguards and security protocols for use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) for the second phase of polls in Gujarat.
The EC is also deploying for the first time the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines in all the 50,128 polling stations in the state to "inject greater transparency and credibility" to the voting process.
Zaidi said the EC has already announced that in all future elections to Lok Sabha and state assemblies, VVPAT machines would be attached to all EVMs.
The EC is all set to hold a demonstration on the working of the EVMs and VVPATs which aims to allay fears that these can be tampered with in favour of a candidate/party.
The Election Commission (EC) has decided to hold a live demo of Voter-verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) and EVMs and explain how they function. The demonstrations, to be held on Saturday, are an attempt to prove that the machines are infallible.
