Ramagundam Municipal Corporation Election Result: Congress leads in one of 60 wards; counting underway

The municipal polls in Telangana saw an intense three-way contest among the ruling Indian National Congress (INC), the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The results are expected to influence strategies ahead of the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections.

The Congress Party is currently leading on one of 60 wards in Ramagundam Municipal Corporation. The counting is underway across all wards and the trends will be shared as they are updated. 

Ramagundam is one of the seven municipal corporations that participated in the Telangana Local Body Elections 2026. The city is divided into 60 wards, covering an area of 98.69 square kilometers, with an estimated population of 297,113. Out of 174,146 registered voters, 88,787 are male and 85,359 are female. Scheduled Caste communities make up 20.51% of the population, while Scheduled Tribe communities account for 1.72%. 

As many as four candidates are in the fray for Ramagundam Ward No. 42 seat in the Ramagundam Municipal Corporation of Telangana.

The counting of votes across  60 wards in Telangana's Ramagundam Municipal Corporation has begun. The voting for Telangana local body polls took place on Wednesday.  

A BRS delegation on Thursday reached the DGP office to register complaints against the Congress party. The delegation sought ‘protection’ from the Congress leaders alleging threat.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Thursday, just a day before votes are scheduled to be counted in the state’s local body elections. The meeting comes at a crucial time as the Congress leadership closely monitors developments ahead of the results in Telangana’s municipal polls.

As many as 123 centres have been established across Telangana for vote counting in local body polls. The counting will start at 8 am. 

The counting process will commence at 8 am. Ward-wise results will be published on the official website of the Telangana State Election Commission at tsec.gov.in.

The Telangana Municipal Corporation elections registered an impressive overall voter turnout of 73.01%, as reported by the State Election Commission. The substantial participation underscores the electorate’s active involvement in shaping urban local governance. Authorities termed the turnout noteworthy, especially since the elections across all municipalities and municipal corporations were conducted on party lines, highlighting heightened political engagement among urban voters.

The results are widely viewed as a significant political test for the Congress, the BJP and the BRS, with implications for the State’s evolving political landscape.

State Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud voiced optimism about his party’s prospects, expressing confidence that the Congress would emerge victorious. Meanwhile, BJP leader and Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy asserted that the BJP would achieve favourable results, even as he levelled allegations against the ruling dispensation.

The Municipal Corporations in Telangana that witnessed polling are Karimnagar, Ramagundam, Nizamabad, Mahaboobnagar, Mancherial, Kothagudem, Nalgonda.

The voting took place on February 11. 

The process of counting votes for the recently concluded local body elections in Telangana will commence at 8 am. Ballots from 414 wards spread across seven municipal corporations will be tallied. The polling process wrapped up on Wednesday, and authorities have completed all necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth and transparent counting procedure.
