The Indian women's team comprising Parneet Kaur, Aditi Swami and Jyothi Surekha Vennam claimed its third successive gold medal at the Archery World Cup on Saturday (May 25) after defeating Turkey in the final of the compound stage two event in South Korea.

The Indian trio obliterated the challenge put up by Turkey's Hazal Burun, Ayse Bera Suzer and Begum Yuva from the outset and won the summit clash 232-226 without breaking a sweat.

India's intimidating triumvirate proved too hot to handle for the Turkish side as the finale turned out to be a one-sided affair. Currently ranked No. 1 in the world, Parneet Kaur, Aditi Swami and Jyothi Surekha Vennam brushed the Turkish challenge aside to bag gold without dropping a medal.

The finale started off on a competitive note. The Indian archers struck three X on the first three arrows but dropped one point each in the next three attempts. However, luck smiled on the second-seeded Indians as they claimed the first round by just a solitary point.

The second round witnessed sheer dominance by the Indian trio. They struck five 10s with two X to extend their lead by four points over their fifth-seeded opponents.

There was a lot of grit and tenacity on display in the penultimate round by Turkey as they fired four 10s, including one X to match India's total of 58. However, India's healthy lead proved to much for Turkey in the end as they failed to narrow the gulf.

Notably, this is the third gold medal for the Indian trio at the Archery World Cup.

India miss out on gold in compound mixed-team event

The final of the compound mixed-team event saw Joythi Surekha Vennam and Priyansh bag the silver medal at Yecheon. The Indian duo earned a hard-fought lead in the opening round but eventually had to settle for silver as they lost by 153-155.

USA's Olivia Dean and Sawyer Sullivan bagged the gold medal in the compound mixed-team event.
