Mumbai Indians will start their IPL 2026 campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 29 (Sunday). The match will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Reports related to the IPL schedule are coming out. RCB are set to face SRH on March 28 in Bengaluru at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Meanwhile, bilateral cricket resumed today with the ODI series between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Pakistan have been bundled out for 114 runs and Bangladesh are only 40 runs away from a historic victory

Well, this is unlikely to happen but with elections in four states might force the organisers to ask several teams to play their home games at neutral venues. It all depends on the election dates for now. BCCI has managed to host matches in India before, even during elections. They will have to manage the same way. Having said that, IPL has been played in the UAE and South Africa before.

Even as the IPL is approaching fast, the LPG crisis has deepened in the country. The ongoing conflict in the Middle East between Iran on one side and the United States and Israel on the other has disrupted energy supplies and maritime routes, which has led to an LPG crisis in India, something that had recently been acknowledged by IPL Chairman Arun Singh Dhumal. He cleared recently that the BCCI is having a close watch on the developments and will take a call on it if required in near future.

It was only last week that the RCB finally decided to play their home games at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The franchise officially announced it as well. It has also been reported that the opening ceremony will also be held. But that is if RCB gets to host the opening game as per the tradition. Everything will be official soon.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the previous edition of the IPL. Going by tradition, the opening game must be played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Will that happen though? A lot happened last year after IPL 2025 and in the victory parade, stampeded occured and 11 people had died. 

India won the T20 World Cup on March 8, and that has shot the excitement around the upcoming IPL edition to its peak. Fans are very eager to watch their heroes in action for their respective IPL teams.

This is probably the first time in many years that the IPL schedule has been delayed a lot. But there is a reason for this - BCCI is waiting for the election dates in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, and Keralam to be announced but they are yet to be unveiled. But IPL 2026 will start on March 28, and the schedule is not yet out. So, the BCCI is announcing the schedule for only 20 days.
