Highlights, IND vs NZ, World Cup Warm-up Match: New Zealand beat India by 6 wickets

* Chasing 180, the Kiwis did not get off to the start they would have wanted as Colin Munro departed early. Kane Williamson then steadied the ship along with Martin Guptill. Though the latter could not convert his start. He was then joined by the experienced Ross Taylor. The duo added 114-run stand for the third wicket with both getting their respective fifties. The duo could not finish it off for their side as Williamson departed after the team total got past 150 and Taylor got out when the team was just a run shy from victory. In the end it was a good day for New Zealand.

21.11 IST: Kuldeep Yadav to Henry Nicholls, It is all over here in this warm-up game! NEW ZEALAND WIN BY 6 WICKETS! A very funny way to get to the win though. A flighted ball on the pads, Nicholls mistimes his drive to mid on and runs through. The fielder there scores a direct hit but the batsman was well in. The umpire does not even need to take it upstairs, thus bringing an end to a one-sided encounter!

21.09 IST: Ravindra Jadeja to Ross Taylor, OUT! What an anti-climax! Taylor is walking back with 1 run needed! A flighted ball outside off, Taylor reaches out and looks to drive but the ball holds slightly in the pitch. The ball goes uppishly straight to Kohli at cover who takes an easy catch. A new man will have to come in for just a run to be scored!

21.03 IST: Kuldeep Yadav to Henry Nicholls, Lots of air on that one, Nicholls looks to hit the ball over mid on but the ball goes off the inside half as he takes it on the full. Two runs to deep fine leg.

21.01 IST: Ravindra Jadeja to Henry Nicholls, FOUR! Now just 10 needed. Jadeja lands it short on off and middle, Nicholls pulls it through mid-wicket for a boundary.

20.58 IST: Kuldeep Yadav to Henry Nicholls, NOT OUT! Floated on off and middle, Nicholls comes down the track and strokes it to long on for a run. The throw is at the keeper's end. Dinesh Karthik takes the bails off and Taylor was a bit relaxed. The umpire takes it upstairs just to be sure and replays show that he was indeed in.

Kuldeep Yadav is back on.

20.55 IST: Ravindra Jadeja to Henry Nicholls, Shorter on middle and leg, Henry punches it to long on and keeps the strike. New Zealand need just another 15 runs to win this.

20.51 IST: Yuzvendra Chahal to Ross Taylor, FOUR! Shorter this time, cut away by Taylor. The ball races to the fence. No fielder moved there, such was the timing.

20.49 IST: Yuzvendra Chahal to Ross Taylor, FOUR! Not where Taylor wanted it to go but it fetches him a boundary. A flighted ball on off, Ross comes down the ground and looks to lift it over covers but the ball goes off the outside half of the blade over backward point. RT will not mind though.

20.47 IST: Ravindra Jadeja to Henry Nicholls, Oh, close! Quicker on off, Nicholls looks to defend. He does so but the ball bumps and looks to go on and hit the stump. Nicholls kicks it the first time but it is still close to the stumps so he does so again.

Henry Nicholls walks out at number 5 for New Zealand.

20.44 IST: Yuzvendra Chahal to Kane Williamson, OUT! First wicket for spinner in this game. Chahal bowls a leg spinner which is slower through the air, Williamson looks to flick it against the spin but gets a top edge which lobs towards point. Rohit Sharma comes ahead and takes an easiest of catches. Chahal is having a giggle about it. Doubt this wicket will change the winner of this game.

20.40 IST: Ravindra Jadeja to Kane Williamson, FOUR! Top edge and four! A flighted off-spinner outside off, Kane reaches out and looks to sweep but is nowhere in control of that ball. The ball goes off the top edge and over the keeper's head. A boundary results.

20.37 IST:Kuldeep Yadav to Kane Williamson, FOUR! What an excellent shot! Safe as houses! A flighted ball on middle, swept away through backward square leg. No fielder out there in the deep means the ball finds its way to the fence.

20.35 IST: Ravindra Jadeja to Ross Taylor, FOUR! Fifty for Taylor! He has been in sublime form and continues with it! A flighted ball outside off, Taylor runs down the track and smacks it past cover. Beats the fielder in the deep with ease.

20.33 IST: Ravindra Jadeja to Ross Taylor, FOUR! Cut away hard past point. A loose delivery! Wide outside off and short this time. Taylor pounces on it and picks up a boundary. Moves onto 49!

Ravindra Jadeja comes on now.

20.25 IST: Kuldeep Yadav to Ross Taylor, Dropped! Dinesh Karthik is the culprit. Kuldeep bowls it quick and flat outside off, Ross looks to drive but gets an outside edge.

20.22 IST: Yuzvendra Chahal to Kane Williamson, FIFTY FOR KANE WILLIAMSON. He has played a great knock here. Though it is just a warm up game this will give all of New Zealand big hope heading into the tournament. He gets there with a single down to long off.

20.19 IST: Yuzvendra Chahal to Kane Williamson, SIX! That was six the moment it left the bat! Chahal tosses it up outside off, Williamson slog sweeps it over mid-wicket fence for a biggie. The sound it made off the bat was delicious.

20.15 IST: Kuldeep Yadav to Kane Williamson, FOUR! Beautifully played! Kuldeep bowls a leg break outside off, Williamson does not come down the track and stays in the crease and plays an inside out shot over extra cover for a boundary.

20.12 IST: Yuzvendra Chahal to Ross Taylor, FOUR! Taylor runs to the pitch of the ball and hits this ball over the head of the cover fielder. Beats the fielder in the deep with ease. Good shot!

20.02 IST: Kuldeep Yadav to Kane Williamson, FOUR! Good shot. A short ball outside off, Kane shuffles and goes back at the right time before just easily punching this through the gap at wide of point. Easy pickings for a man of his class.

Spin from both ends. Kuldeep Yadav comes into the attack now.

19.59 IST: Yuzvendra Chahal to Kane Williamson, Lots of air on this one, Williamson gets it on the full and the ball goes to the left of the bowler. Short cover dives to his right and stops the ball, preventing the single.

19:54 IST: Hardik Pandya to Ross Tayor, FOUR! A poor delivery as Taylor pushes the ball straight towards the boundary.

19:47 IST: Mohammed Shami to Kane Williamson, pushes it towards the on side. A dot ball - four runs from the over and we go to drinks break. 15 overs, 66-2.

19:30 IST: Mohammed Shami to Kane Williamson, a confident shot towards cover on a fullish delivery. Two runs on the final delivery. 11 overs, 46-2.

19:28 IST: Mohammed Shami to Kane Williamson, 2 runs. On the middle and leg stump, Williamson flicks this one through mid-wicket for a couple of runs.

19:27 IST: Hardik Pandya to Ross Taylor, quick running from the batsmen as they take two from the final delivery. 10 overs, 40-2.

19:24 IST: Hardik Pandya to Martin Guptill, OUT! Brilliant catch from KL Rahul! Full on leg, Guptill looks to flick but ends up chipping it upiishly towards mid-wicket. KL Rahul runs from mid on. He is running backwards but he never takes his eyes off the ball.

19:22 IST: Hardik Pandya to Kane Williamson, On the pads, Williamson flicks it through square leg. They run quickly and get three with ease. Good running.

19:20 IST: Mohammed Shami to Kane Williamson, one run from the last delivery. 34-1, 9 overs.

19:18 IST: Mohammed Shami to Kane Williamson, FOUR! Short-pitched delivery and Williamson pulls it brilliantly towards mid-wicket for a boundary.

19:17 IST: Change in the bowling as Mohammed Shami replaces Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

19:15 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Martin Guptill, second consecutive maiden for Jasprit Bumrah! 29-2, 8 overs.

19:13 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Martin Guptill, extra bounce for Bumrah this time, as Guptill fails to connect. No run.

19:11 IST: Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Martin Guptill, FOUR! Once again Guptill leaves a lot to be desired about the timing but still gets a boundary. Good length ball on middle and leg, Martin comes down the track and looks to cover drive it but it goes off the inner half through square leg for a boundary. 29-1, 7 overs.

19:09 IST: Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Martin Guptill, FOUR! Had little to no timing on it but still gets the desired result. Full on off, mid on is up so Guptill just lofts it over the man there for a boundary.

19:07 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Kane Williamson, a maiden over from Jasprit Bumrah, as he continues to build pressure on the Kiwi captain. 18-2, 6 overs.

19:04 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Kane Williamson, the batsman looks wary and fidgety, as he carefully pushes the delivery to mid on.

19:03 IST: New Zealand are 18-1 after five overs. Jasprit Bumrah will continue from the other end.

19:02 IST: Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Kane Williamson, The New Zealand captain still facing a bit of trouble, as he looks to play the ball on the off side but gets an inside edge onto the pads. The ball gets stuck between his leg.

18.55 IST: Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Martin Guptill, Solid punch off the back foot wide of mid off. Rahul gives a long chase to the ball and saves a run for his team.

18.52 IST: Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Martin Guptill, FOUR! Swatted away with disdain! A length ball outside off, Guptill has the slightest of room and he uses it to chop this ball away through cover-point. The ball runs away to the boundary.

Kane Williamson walks out to bat at his customary number 3 slot.

18.49 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Colin Munro, OUT! Peach of a delivery! Bumrah takes only 4 balls to bowl his USP ball. An unplayable inswinging yorker on middle, Munro had no clue of it. He was not prepared for it. He looks to drive again but gets caught right in front. The ball hits him on the boot. The Indian players go up in appeal and the umpire has no hesitation in raising the finger. Munro knows he is plumb so does Guptill and they do not take the review. Smart decision.

Jasprit Bumrah to bowl with the other new ball.

18.47 IST: Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Colin Munro, FOUR! Munro is not going to play the waiting game. He comes down the track for the very first ball and whacks it through mid on for a boundary. First boundary of the innings.

We are back for the chase. New Zealand need just 180 and their two openers, Martin Guptill and Colin Munro are out in the middle. For India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has the new ball in his hand. Also, Dinesh Karthik is wearing the keeper's mits! Let's play!

Not the performance India would have wanted in their preparation. As predicted by the skippers during the toss, it was a tough pitch to bat on especially in the start. India lost wickets at regular intervals. The openers did not stay long. Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya were looking good out in the middle but could not convert their starts.

18.10 IST: Trent Boult to Kuldeep Yadav, OUT! The innings comes to a close! Boult ends with 4! A short ball outside off from him, Kuldeep looks to make room and hit this with a flat bat over the bowler's head but the ball goes off the top edge and right in the air. It has no distance and the bowler walks near his end's stumps before completing a single catch. INDIA FOLD FOR 179!

Mohammad Shami walks out to bat next.

18.04 IST: Lockie Ferguson to Ravindra Jadeja, OUT! That has plucked out of thin air! What a fantastic catch. A short ball outside off, Ravindra Jadeja unleashes the cut but cannot keep this ball down. It flies to the left of point where a diving Guptill takes a stunner! He holds on just inches above the ground and that ends the frustration for New Zealand. The 62-run stand is broken and an excellent hand of 54 from Jadeja comes to a close. IND 177/9 in 38.1 overs

18.01 IST: Trent Boult to Ravindra Jadeja, FIFTY FOR JADEJA! Shorter on off, Jadeja pulls it towards deep square leg and gets a couple to get to his personal milestone.

17.57 IST: Lockie Ferguson to Kuldeep Yadav, FOUR! Edgy but Kuldeep won't mind. Good length ball on off, Kuldeep premeditates his heave on the leg side. He gets an outside edge which flies over the jumping first slip for a boundary. The 50-run stand is up between these two, a very useful one this.

17.55 IST: Ouch! Kuldeep has copped a blow on his right elbow! He looks to be in some pain and the physio is out in the middle to examine him.

17.54 IST: Lockie Ferguson to Kuldeep Yadav, Ouch! That must have hurt. Lockie steams in and hits the deck hard on a back of a length. Kuldeep looks to duck away at the last moment but the ball hits him hard on the elbow and goes to short fine leg.

17.51 IST: Ish Sodhi to Kuldeep Yadav, On the pads, Kuldeep sweeps it fine down to fine leg and gets a couple.

17.48 IST: Lockie Ferguson to Ravindra Jadeja, Comes 'round the wicket and fires a full ball on off. Jadeja looks to flick but gets an inside edge onto the pads.

17.43 IST: Ish Sodhi to Kuldeep Yadav, Flighted on middle and slightly turning in, the tailender defends the ball back down the ground.

17.37 IST: Ish Sodhi to Ravindra Jadeja, SIX! Jadeja strikes and strikes big! A flighted ball on off, Ravindra lifts the ball over long off and over the rope! This is a brilliant shot! 12 runs off Sodhi's first.

17.30 IST: James Neesham to Ravindra Jadeja, FOUR! Lovely shot! Jadeja is looking superb here. Around the wicket and really full outside off, Ravindra leans into the drive and hits it wide of extra cover. The ball goes to the rope.

17.27 IST: Mitchell Santner to Ravindra Jadeja, SIX! This is even better! The first maximum of the game. Floated outside off, Jadeja reaches out and deposits this one over cow corner. Huge!

17.26 IST: Mitchell Santner to Ravindra Jadeja, FOUR! Slapped! A flatter one on off, Jadeja picks the ball and hits it wide of mid on. Good shot!

17.25 IST: Mitchell Santner to Ravindra Jadeja, FOUR! Outside edge and no slip! A flatter one from around the wicket, going straight with the angle. Jadeja looks to defend but the ball goes off the outside edge and goes fine of short third man and all the way to the rope.

Kuldeep Yadav is the new man in.

17.20 IST: James Neesham to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, OUT! What a catch! Ross Taylor has taken an excellent catch at first slip. Length ball on off, it moves away slightly after pitching. Bhuvneshwar has a poke at it but gets a thick outside edge. It flies wide of Ross Taylor at first slip. He dives to his right and takes a brilliant one-handed catch.

17.18 IST: James Neesham to Ravindra Jadeja, FOUR! Length ball outside off, Jadeja demolishes it through covers for a boundary.

17.15 IST: Mitchell Santner to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shorter on off, Kumar defends it to see off the over. 2 runs off the over.

17.07 IST: Mitchell Santner to Ravindra Jadeja, Once again Santner tosses it up on the pads, this time Jadeja flicks it to deep square leg and keeps the strike.

Mitchell Santner now comes into the attack.

17.03 IST: Tim Southee to Ravindra Jadeja, FOUR! The Rajput wields his sword! A short length ball on middle, Jadeja pulls this away powerfully wide of fine leg. No chance for him at all. Excellent shot.

16.56 IST: Jimmy Neesham to Ravindra Jadeja, FOUR! The 100 comes up for India! A length ball wide outside off, Ravindra Jadeja reaches out and crunches this one away through covers. The ball beats the infield and once it has done that, there is stopping it.

* Bhuvneshwar Kumar comes into bat

16.52 IST: Tim Southee to MS Dhoni, OUT! Dhoni departs! His struggle in the middle comes to an end. A 42-ball 17, he was trying to hold the innings together but fails in the attempt to score a boundary.

* Tim Southee returns to attack

16.45 IST: James Neesham to MS Dhoni, FOUR! A very poor ball from Neesham. Full on the pads, Dhoni just helps it on its way to the fine leg fence for a boundary.

16.39 IST: James Neesham to Dinesh Karthik, OUT! Karthik has hit this one straight down fine leg's throat! He cannot believe it and neither can the bowler. He is in splits. A fuller length ball on the pads, Karthik flicks it away stylishly and with excellent timing. He though fails to keep it down the ground and the ball flies straight to Ish Sodhi in the deep. He gobbles the ball that comes at him. Two wickets in his first over for Jimmy!

16.37 IST: James Neesham to Dinesh Karthik, FOUR! Off the mark in style is Karthik! A length ball on the pads, the new batsman would have loved it. He flicks it away through square leg and the ball runs away due to the excellent timing on it!

16.33 IST: James Neesham to Hardik Pandya, OUT! Neesham strikes first ball! What an excellent bowling change this. A cross seamer on top of off, Pandya plays awkwardly as he fails to pick the line and length early, he gets an outside edge that carries at a good height to the keeper. Half of India is now back in the hut! Pandya after looking good so far has to depart for 30. He will be disappointed to have missed out to makes some more. New Zealand tightening their grip even more.

16.29 IST: Lockie Ferguson to Hardik Pandya, FOUR! Make it three in a row! A half-volley outside off, Pandya lifts it with brilliant timing over covers for a boundary. Risk was involved there as it was aerial but the connection was a true one.

16.20 IST: Lockie Ferguson to MS Dhoni, FOUR BYES! The bouncer from Ferguson and it takes off! Dhoni looks to pull this away but the ball is too high for him as well as the keeper. It rushes to the rope behind. Free runs for India.

16.18 IST: Ferguson to Dhoni, FOUR! IND 58/4 in 15.4 overs

16.17 IST: Drinks break! It has been a really rough start to the game for India. The Indian skipper won the toss and elected to bat in challenging conditions because they wanted to test how they fare but they have failed. On the other hand, Trent Boult has breathed fire and been supported ably by the rest of the bowlers to have bowled so far. The runs are coming at an absolute premium and 1 or 2 wickets more quickly will mean that New Zealand won't be looking at too big a target.

16.06 IST: Colin de Grandhomme to Hardik Pandya, Short one on middle, Hardik pulls this away but without timing through square leg. Two runs are taken. The 50 comes up for India.

16.01 IST: Lockie Ferguson to Hardik Pandya, Back of a length on middle, swiped away to deep backward square leg for a single by Hardik. It is signalled as a leg bye though, looks like he was a little late on the shot and it came off the thigh pad.

15.58 IST: Lockie Ferguson to Hardik Pandya, FOUR! Right off the middle. This man is in some different kind of batting form. On a length outside off, Hardik just pushes at it and that is enough. The ball pings off the middle and runs wide of mid off to the boundary. IND 45/4 in 11.1 overs

15.55 IST: Colin de Grandhomme to Virat Kohli, OUT! Huge wicket! The Indian skipper departs! What a bowling change. A length ball on off, Kohli looks to push this away on the leg side with a forward stride but the ball actually cuts back in a little and goes between bat and pad. The off stump is uprooted! What a sight. Kohli bears a surprised look on his face. The Kiwis are well on top here. India's challenge to their batsmen has seen them failing so far. IND 39/4 in 10.3 overs

15.47 IST: Tim Southee to Hardik Pandya, Bouncer! It is on off, Hardik look to pull but misses. Blundell was interested for a bit but that's it.

15.44 IST: Tim Southee to Hardik Pandya, FOUR! Excellent shot. Good length ball outside off, Hardik plays it away from the body with very little foot moment and creams his drive through covers for a boundary. IND 38/3 in 8.2 overs

15.40 IST: Trent Boult to Virat Kohli, FOUR! Through the gaps and the cover drive once again sails away for a boundary. Full outside off, Kohli gets on his front foot and drives it through covers. His bottom hand comes off the bat it does not matter when it comes off the middle of his bat. IND 33/3 in 7.2 overs

15.38 IST: Tim Southee to Hardik Pandya, Driven straight to the man. Good length ball on off, Hardik drives it to the man at point. Good positive shot this.

15.34 IST: Boult to Pandya, FOUR! Well played by Pandya, starting right away. IND 28/3 in 6 overs

The new man in is Hardik Pandya.

15.33 IST: Trent Boult to Lokesh Rahul, OUT! Played on! Back on a length ball from Boult and it catches Rahul unaware. India have lost their third in no time. KL was initially ahead expecting the ball to be full but he has to then adjust by going backward. He is late on the shot and hence it goes off the blade and back on the stumps! Boult has his third, he is breathing fire here, 3 wickets inside 3 overs of his! IND 24/3 in 5.3 overs

15.30 IST: Boult to Rahul, FOUR! That is the class of KL Rahul. A length ball outside off, Rahul leans forward and pushes it through the covers. The ball was played right under his eyes, pretty late. Lovely shot and timing. IND 24/2 in 5.2 overs

15.26 IST: Tim Southee to Lokesh Rahul, NOT OUT! Waste of a review this. It looked to be going down leg and replays confirm that indeed it was going down leg. Length ball pitching on middle and leg. It goes with the angle, Rahul looks to flick but gets hit on the pad.

* Time for another review! LBW appeal against Rahul is turned down but Southee wants that to be taken upstairs!

15.22 IST: Boult to Kohli, FOUR! Timing, control and a classic signature shot from the Indian skipper. Full outside off, Kohli oozes his class and drives it through covers for a boundary. IND 17/2 in 3.5 overs

The new man in is KL Rahul.

15.18 IST: OUT! Boult removes Dhawan! Two for Boult and his inswingers have removed the openers early! An inside edge and Dhawan is back in the hut. Excellent review. India have lost their second. Good decision to take the review. Length ball hitting on off and it comes in beautifully. Dhawan looks to defend it but it goes between his bat and pad to the right of the keeper. IND 10/2 in 2.1 overs

* New Zealand have taken their review. It is for caught behind. Dhawan is the man in question. Was there an inside edge? The umpire does not think so. Let's see what the replays have to say.

15.14 IST: Tim Southee to Shikhar Dhawan, Good cricket all-round. Full outside off, Dhawan drives it towards cover. Neesham dives to his left and stops a certain boundary. They still manage to take on.

* That's a relief for India!

15.13 IST: Southee to Kohli, FOUR! And there comes the drive by the skipper. What a shot. Length ball on off, Kohli comes down the track and drives it wonderfully through covers for a boundary. IND 8/1 in 2.2 overs

15.11 IST: Trent Boult to Virat Kohli, Bowled on the leg stump line and some more inward swing, Kohli misses his glance. The ball goes off the pad to the left of the keeper who makes a half-stop. That allows for the batsmen to run a leg bye.

* Out walks Indian skipper, Virat Kohli to a huge cheer from the crowd.

15.08 IST: Trent Boult to Rohit Sharma, OUT! The ball is clipping the top of the stumps! Rohit Sharma is a gonner but he does not take the review with him, fortunately for India. A length ball on middle and swinging inward this time, instead of straightening. Rohit after missing the first ball on the outside, feels this one will do the same and plays down the wrong line. He misses the ball and gets rapped on the back pad, after being grazed on the front pad first. The bowler appeals and the umpire takes his time but the finger eventually comes up. There is a discussion between Rohit and Dhawan post which the former takes the review but that does not save him. Not the start that he or India would have wanted but just what the Kiwis would have liked!

15.06 IST: Review time! Rohit has been adjudged LBW here but has taken the review. Looked pretty adjacent here and it could be a waste of a review!

* Trent Boult to take the second new ball from the other end.

15.04 IST: Tim Southee to Shikhar Dhawan, Swing and a miss. Length ball outside off, no swing on this one. Rohit slashes his bat at it but misses.

15.02 IST: Tim Southee to Rohit Sharma, Hint of inswing first up. It is on the body, Rohit eases his flick down to fine leg and gets off the mark.

* The openers are out, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan take the crease. Tim Southee has one new ball in his hand. Let's get started.

PITCH REPORT - Shaun Pollock, the pitch expert for today, says that the surface is extremely green, has a lot of moisture on it. He feels it will be bowler-friendly and there might not be too many pitches like these in the rest of the tournament. Reckons that considering it is a warm-up game, the captains might want to test their batsmen and check how they fare in these conditions.

Brief Preview: The outing at the Kennington Oval will go beyond experimenting with their highly skilled bowling attack, and quite a bit of focus will be on KL Rahul and Vijay Shankar, contenders for the number four slot. Dubbed the most challenging World Cup ever owing to a format that is a throwback to the 1992 edition, Virat Kohli's team still arrived at the United Kingdom confident of adding to its two titles in the International Cricket Council's (ICC) showpiece event. India won the tournament in 1983 and 2011. (Read Full Preview Here)
