New Delhi: Under attack over his alleged fake degree, Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar today said he would tender his resignation immediately if Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal indicates to him to do so, even as he maintained that a conspiracy has been hatched to defame him.

“My party and my leader (Kejriwal) know that I am correct that's why I am a minister today. If my leader asks me to tender resignation...I am even ready to sacrifice my life within one minute, resignation is a very small thing for me.  “Let some people hatch conspiracy against me...the moment the hearing date comes in the court, everything will come out,” Tomar said here.

Singh also wrote a letter to Kejriwal in which he said the allegation was “baseless” and intended to “malign” his image and that of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).  The minister also took potshot at the media, alleging that it had maintained silence on the educational qualifications of Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani.

“You (media) don't leave even a small matter if it is about Aam Aadmi Party. You know about the degree of Smriti Irani...I will give you the paper on record. “On one hand, she writes that she is graduate from Delhi University, but at second time, she writes that she is Class 12th pass. A rape case is also registered against Nihal Chand, who is Union Minister, but you don't speak,” he said.

Accusing Delhi BJP and its leader Nand Kishor Garg of hatching a conspiracy to defame him, he said, “BJP and Garg, who had contested election against me in Assembly poll, did everything what they could to defame me. BJP has only three MLAs who don't have any work but to stage dharna. Congress doesn't have even a single seat.”

Garg, however, refuted Tomar's charges saying that he has no personal enmity with him, but wanted to show the mirror to Kejriwal so as to let him know the kind of MLAs his party has.  Meanwhile, stepping up its offensive, Congress held a protest demanding immediate dismissal of Tomar.

Police used water cannons when scores of protesting Congress workers tried to break barricades to march towards the Delhi Secretariat, which houses the offices of the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues.

Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken, who led the protest, said his party will not relent till Tomar was removed from the Delhi Cabinet.
