Kolkata, Dec 7: Railway minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today said her party would be "happy" if a JPC on 2G spectrum allocation was formed, but there was no threat to the ruling coalition at the Centre from her party, its second largest member.

"We will not topple the government. We will not withdraw support to the government. I do not know what the government is going to decide. We have full trust on Prime Minister. We will be happy if the government forms the JPC," Banerjee, the Trinamool Congress chief, told reporters before leaving for Delhi.

"We will be happy to see if Prime Minister takes a decision. I do not know what decision he is going to take. I believe whatever decision the Prime Minister takes will be a correct decision. We are an alliance partner of the government. We have our limitations. The Prime Minister heads the government."

If the matter was discussed her party would give its opinion, she said, "We are in the UPA. We will remain with the UPA and that is our committment."

Asked whether she would ask Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to constitute the JPC, she retorted, "Why should I request him? He is the senior most in the cabinet with vast experience. I have total faith in the Prime Minister."

"Pranab Mukherjee is the Leader of the House. He has called a meeting this evening. I hope a decision will come out after the meeting," she said.

"I want the 2G spectrum allocation scam should be discussed on the floor of the House. I want that truth should come out," she said.

To a question on the Opposition stalling Parliament proceedings over the 2G spectrum issue, she said "Our parliament is supreme. It fights for democracy. It protects democracy. It should be allowed to function."

"There should be discussion between the government and the Opposition. For a long time it has been stalled and (good) message will not go to people if it is stalled. Opposition plays a crucial role in Parliament. There are so many problems to discuss," she said. PTI
