Patna: Actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha was among 12 candidates to file nominations from different Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar today.
Accompanied by actress-wife Poonam Sinha, leader of the opposition, Nand Kishore Yadav and party MLAs, Sinha submitted his nomination papers as a BJP candidate for the Patna Saheb constituency to Patna District Magistrate cum Returning Officer N Shrawan Kumar.
Ganesh Sao of BSP also filed nomination for Patna Saheb, EC sources said.
Among other prominent candidates to file nominations were Ranjan Prasad Yadav of JD(U) from the Pataliputra seat in Patna district.
He would be contesting against Misa Bharti of RJD and Ramkripal Yadav of BJP from the seat represented by him in 2009.
Surendra Prasad Yadav of RJD filed his papers from the Jehanabad constituency.
The day also saw cancellation of nominations of seven candidates from different places, including Madhavi Kirti, grand daughter of dalit leader Jagjivan Ram, from Sasaram (reserved) seat.
She was to challenge her aunt and Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar from the family's traditional seat on BSP ticket.
Nominations of some Independents and smaller parties were also nullified after scrutiny.
