Moreover, they make an interesting and beautiful combination of a Muslim woman, and a Hindu man.Sachin Pilot is the son of Late Rajesh Pilot who was a Union Minister and veteran Congress leader. Sachin himself was the Minister of Corporate Affair under the rule of UPA II. He was also the youngest Member of Parliament of the country. Sachin Pilot was born in Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. After he had completed schooling and graduation from St Stephen' College, he went on to pursue MBA from Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.Sara Pilot is the daughter of National Conference's Chairman Farooq Abdullah and sister of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Sara's grandfather, Sheikh Abdullah too is a veteran politician. He was one of the founding leaders of National Conference party.Sara lived with her family in Kashmir till 1990 after which Farooq Abdullah sent her with her mother to London, to keep them away from the ongoing turbulence in the valley.It was in London that Sara and Sachin met each other for the first time. Sachin's father and Sarah's father were both close friends and therefore they knew about each other's family although they had never met before.During the period Sachin was doing his MBA, Sara and Sachin became close friends. With time their friendship became more intense and blossomed into love.One day, Sara introduced Sachin to her mother. She had confessed of her love for him to her family.Sara's parents had always been fond of him.His innocent smile and sincerity won their hearts. They had no objection to Sara and his relations.But they could not spend much time with each other. Within a couple of months, Sachin completed his course and returned to India. Sara continued to live in England.Once they had separated, they realized the depth of their love. It is said distance makes the love grow fonder and so was the case in Sara and Sachin's love story.They missed each other and were left to interact with just e-mails and phone calls. Almost three years had passed since they got separated. With each passing season their bond grew stronger and so did their desire to be with each other.But considering the cultural background they came from, it was certainly not easy to put forward the proposal of marriage to their parents.Sachin belongs to a Rajasthani Gujjar family and Sara hailed from a conservative Muslim family. They knew that their marriage could not be possible with consent of their families.But after much reluctance, Sachin told his mother about Sara. As he had expected, she refused. All his family members refused. But Sachin, eventually won the battle. He somehow managed to convince them.But in Sara's case, it was a more difficult challenge. Her father refused to give his consent to the relationship. He even asked Sara not to even talk about it.Sara felt let down. She was sure that she would be able to convince her father. Sara was very close to her father. He had always given her whatever she wanted. But now, she was asking her father for something that was dearest to her.She could have given away everything for just that one person. Sara pleaded with him. She spent days weeping. Her father was adamant.One thing that a father cannot see is tears in his children's eyes. But his hands were tied. He loved his daughter. His heart bled to see her daughter breaking down like this.He too was fond of Sachin and could not think of a better suitor for Sara. But he had social and political compulsions in front of him.When Sachin and Sara's relationship became public, a smear campaign on Abdullah's daughter marrying a ‘kafir' had already begun in the Kashmir valley.Even his party legislators turned against this relationship saying Muslim men could marry outside their religion but Islam does not permit a girl to marry to a non-Muslim.Sachin and Sara decided to wait for few more months, but very soon they realized that their wait would be futile because even after months, protests had to continue anyways.And Farooq Abdullah would have no option than to surrender once again to the whims of his party legislators.Sachin and Sara had to take a decision. They were left with two choices – One, they could just part ways and let their family decide their fate. Two, they could follow their heart, be brave and tie the knot.Faith has the strength to even move mountains. Sara and Sachin had faith in their love for each other. So in the month of January, 2004, the love birds tied the knot in a very simple and quiet wedding. Not many people were invited. Media was not permitted to attend the marriage ceremony.But the most somber part of this event was that the Abdullah family boycotted the wedding. Sara hoped against dread that her family would turn up.Sachin's family was very supportive. They tried their best to make up for Sara's loneliness. And Sachin as always, comforted her and assured her that everything would be fine.So Sara Abdullah became Sara Pilot. They entered into a new phase and were extremely happy.God only gives one the amount of pain that he or she can handle. Sara and Sachin's marriage was controversial. It must have been the most painful time for the girl and her husband.Marriage is a union of two families. But in this case, Sara stood alone with her lover and his family.Her heart ached to see her father, brother, cousins…anyone. She wanted her father to stand beside her and bless her. But she was deprived of that love on the most special day of her life.Time healed Abdullah's resentment and he too reconciled with his daughter. Forgetting the past, father daughter and brother were united once again.Omar accepted Sachin as his brother – in – law with open arms.The couple has been blessed with two sons – Aaran and Vehan.Sachin entered into politics only few months after marriage. Sara on the other hand is working with the UN for Women development.Despite their busy schedule, they manage to cull out time for each other. Sara and Sachin like to go out and watch movies together.For Sachin, it's not important to just spend more time together; rather he is more interested in spending quality time together.Religion was never an issue for Sachin and Sara. In fact, Sachin's family and Sara rejoice in the fact that because Sara's mother is a Christian, she a Muslim, and Sachin's family Hindu, they are privileged to enjoy and celebrate different festivals together.Sachin and Sara are best friends and lovers.
