Gandhinagar: Home Minister Rajnath Singh today lauded the Gujarat model of development and said that a reflection of a ‘vibrant Gujarat' would be seen in a ‘vibrant India' under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

“As Gujarat's Chief Minister, Modi gave us the Gujarat model of development, which is not a small achievement. Now, as PM, reflection of a ‘vibrant Gujarat' will be seen in a ‘vibrant India',” he said, addressing the closing ceremony of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit here at Mahatma Mandir.

Singh said that the summit is a huge success. “I came here twice within four days. I saw both Pravasi Bharatiya Divas as well as Vibrant Summit closely. This is truly the magic of Gujarat's soil and water that both events are a huge success,” he said.

Singh put Modi in the league of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel. “Gujarat has given so many great leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel. I must say that Modi is the only person in post-independence India who transformed the political scenario of the country,” he said.

The Home Minister praised Gujarat for its law and order situation. “Law and order is an integral part of the Gujarat model of development. This is the state where women can roam freely at midnight,” he said.  He also said that the central government has taken many steps to realise Modi's dream of Make in India.

“In the last seven months, our government has taken many steps to increase investment, such as permission to bring 49 per cent FDI in the defence sector. For us, FDI means ‘friendly direct investment', which will enable us to realize Modi's dream of Make in India,” he said.
