New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday greeted the nation on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami.
In a statement, Modi said: "Greetings to people on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami. Hope this festival brings happiness and prosperity in everyone's life."
Krishna Janmashtami is an annual celebration of the birth of the Hindu deity Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu.
The festival is celebrated on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of the month of Shravan (August–September) in the Hindu calendar.
