No Truck With Congress or BJP: JD(U) Bats for Third Front

New Delhi: Janta Dal-United today ruled out any truck with Congress or its erstwhile ally BJP and voiced confidence that despite "inherent contradictions", a third force will emerge after Lok Sabha polls of which it

Accusing the BJP of "breaking the Opposition unity", Yadav vehemently denied speculation that his party could again shake hands with BJP after Lok Sabha polls.

"BJP ruptured the Opposition unity that was built assiduously against the misrule of UPA. They spoilt that wave. That is why we tried to find a way on October 30 by organising the convention against communalism.

"There is a big political force in the country minus BJP and Congress. There is a need to bring that in social debate. The strength of non-BJP Opposition is not less. If the country has to be put on right track, this third force is required," he said.

He alleged that while BJP believed in dividing society, Congress' rule saw one corruption scandal after another.

"Both are not in the interest of the country and people will see it. So the third force will always remain relevant," he said.

When pointed that the non-Congress and non-BJP governments had failed to give stability, he said that while other parties believed in continuing in power by making compromises those from Third Front chose otherwise.

Yadav, who was the convener of NDA before the BJP-JD(U) alliance broke out last year, also rejected suggestions that there was a wave in favour Narendra Modi-led BJP.

"There is no wave in favour of the BJP," he said refusing to comment on "individuals".

He also termed as "far fetched and baseless" the speculation that JD(U) will finally join hands with the BJP after the Lok Sabha polls.

"This is absolutely wrong. We separated on principles. Our alliance was with the BJP as per a national agenda arrived during Vajpyeeji's time. When they decided to shift away from that national agenda, we parted our ways.

"Now the question does not arise of joining hands with them after we parted ways on basic principles. Such talks are rumour and have absolutely no base," the JD (U) President said.

Yadav also said that the BJP has stopped talking about AGP, AIADMK , BJD and JVM (P) after the October 30 convention.

The convention had seen leaders from parties that have earlier been a part of the BJP-led NDA government and which the saffron party has been viewing as potential alliance partners in 2014.

They included M Thambi Durai (AIADMK), Babulal Marandi (JVM-P) and Bijayanta Panda (BJD).
