Kolkata, April 16: Playing down talks of rift with ally Janata Dal-United (JD-U), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tuesday said there was no threat to their coalition government in Bihar.

"The JD-U-BJP coalition government in Bihar is doing well in accordance with the aspirations of the people of the state and at present there is no controversy regarding that coalition," BJP spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain told the media here.

There has been intense speculation of a rift between the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, of the JD-U, made a veiled attack on his Gujarat counterpart Narendra Modi and asked the BJP to name its prime ministerial candidate by the year-end.

Hussain contended that Nitish Kumar never named Modi in his speech.

"Nitishji never mentioned anybody's name in his remarks. Moreover, the remarks were made in response to the opposition questioning his secular credentials. We do not want any more politics on the issue," he said.

Refusing to comment if the BJP will go back to former ally Trinamool Congress, Hussain said there were many parties who want to align with the NDA for the next Lok Sabha polls.

"Only the BJP led parties have the might to replace this corrupt and inefficient (UPA) government. There are many parties which want to become a part of the NDA for the next Lok Sabha polls. We will take a call when the time comes," he said.
