New Delhi, Jul 24: Member of Parliament and Chairman of Public Accounts Committee Murli Manohar Joshi criticised the UPA government at the Centre for its failure to take stern measures against China.

Joshi was in Chandrapur city on Tuesday to attend a function on the occasion of Lokmanya Tilak's birth anniversary, organised by the Lokmanya Tilak Smarak Mandal.

Addressing reporters at the Circuit House on Tuesday evening in Chandrapur, he said that the Centre's policy on relations with China has become a cause of concern as it has failed to curb frequent intrusions by Chinese forces into our territory.

"The Centre should have opted for a straight dialogue with the Chinese government on the issue or it should have created international pressure on China with the help of other friendly countries to control its intrusion into Indian soil.

The government has practically done nothing and has opted to look the other way though our national security is at stake," Joshi said.

Citing examples in support of his allegations, Joshi stated that it is now crystal clear that the Chinese have intruded into Indian territory and also created problems in the North-Eastern state of Assam.

The Chinese have been creating bases in Pakistan, Sri Lanka's shores and Myanmar, he said.

He alleged that the Centre has failed to come out with a clear cut policy on national security even as intrusion from Pak terrorists is on irrespective of Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif's claims of better ties with India.
