Patna: Though RJD President Lalu Prasad kept mum on BSP chief Mayawati spurning his advice to join hands with rival Mulayam Singh Yadav in UP as he did with Nitish Kumar in Bihar, state RJD President Ram Chandra Purvey said, “the circumstances will compel both of them (SP and BSP) to come together.”

Purbey told PTI Prasad has proposed a “line of thought” right now and the “line of action” will follow.

The RJD President, who at a joint election rally at Hajipur with Nitish Kumar on Monday, had suggested Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati to enact the same in Uttar Pradesh, did not speak to media after news of Mayawati spurning the offer came.

Though the RJD chief kept mum, his partymen still sounded optimist that the experiment of coming together of secular parties would take place outside Bihar too.

“What holds true for Bihar will be true for Uttar Pradesh and other states as well,” Purbey said hailing secular alliance of RJD, JD(U) and Congress in Bihar for 10 Assembly seats in the bypoll.

RJD spokesperson Mritunjay Tiwary said Prasad suggested the alliance between Mayawati and Yadav in national interest as the division of votes due to fight between Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) benefited BJP.

“The path shown by RJD National President will have to be adopted by everybody in national interest. We are sure that sooner or later Mayawati will accept the need for alliance,” added Tiwary.
