New Delhi: Kailash Vijaybargiya, BJP's senior leader from Madhya Pradesh, in a series of tweets called superstar Shah Rukh Khan a traitor. Khan, recently commented on the the rising intolerance in India.

The senior BJP leader today posted a series of tweets condemning the actor's comments.

He wrote, “Shah Rukh Khan lives in India but his mind is in Pakistan. His films earn crores here but he sees India as an intolerant nation.”

The comments by Vijayvargiya, a BJP general secretary and a former state minister, came notwithstanding the refrain

of top BJP leaders in the recent weeks that insensitive comments should be avoided by partymen. Vijayvargiya is one of the party strategists for the Bihar Assembly elections.

The BJP leader also posed a question to Shah Rukh over blasts in Mumbai. “When hundreds of people died in the 1993 blast in Mumbai, then where was Shahrukh Khan. When Mumbai was attacked in 26/11 attacks, then where was Shahrukh Khan,” he added.

Followed by, “If this is not sedition, then what is it? India is on the verge of becoming a permanent member of the United Nations (Security Council), but everyone including Pakistan are conspiring to derail it.”

Shah Rukh in a recent interview on rising intolerance in the country said, “There is extreme intolerance, there is growing intolerance, people just put words in the air before even thinking about it. And here's a secular country…we keep talking about modern India, we keep talking about progressing, we keep talking about the new India, and we just keep talking.

I don't think if this country is not going to be secular… the youngsters are not going to stand for it. This is the only advice I can give at 50. Intolerance religiously, not being secular in this country, it is the worst kind of crime you can do as a patriot.”

He supported the artistes who were returning their awards and said symbolically, he would return his awards too.  

Earlier in the day, Sadhvi Prachi, infamous for her inflammatory statements, said, Shah Rukh Khan is an agent of neighboring country Pakistan as he reflects their (Pakistan's) ideology. Such a man should go to Pakistan.”

These attacks on King Khan came a day after his 50th birthday when he spoke on the issue of 'rising intolerance' in India and supported writers and filmmakers returning their awards in protest.
