Rajahmundry (AP), Mar 11: Over three months after quitting the Congress, former MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy today announced that he would formally launch his political party tomorrow to be called ‘YSR Congress Party'.

'Speaking at a public meeting at Jaggampeta in East Godavari district, Jagan said the party's flag would be unveiled tomorrow in the family estate at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district, where his father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was buried. The party's 'tri-colour' flag would be unveiled by Jagan and his mother Vijayalakshmi at 2.29 pm which would be a low-key affair.

Jagan said the party's policies and programmes would be announced later by organising a massive public meeting at Idupulapaya ahead of elections in Kadapa district for legislative council and also Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula assembly constituencies. The ‘YSR Congress Party' would strive for ensuring a happy smile on the face of every poor man, Jagan said.

‘YSR Congress Party' was reportedly registered with the Election Commission by someone else who gave it to Jagan.

Jagan and his mother had quit Congress and also as MP and MLA respectively in December last in the wake of his defiance of the party high command's directives over his ‘odarpu yatra' (tour for consoling those who died of shock after YSR's death).

The 38-year-old son of late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has been holding fasts on various issues of public concern. His fast in Delhi to highlight the alleged adverse impact of Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal on the state's farmers created a sensation with about 25 MLAs attending it.

Jagan had announced on the occasion that he was doing a favour to the Congress by asking the MLAs loyal to him not to quit their posts for now. PTI
