NDA projected to get thumping majority with 289 seats in India TV-CVoter exit polls

New Delhi: The National Democratic Alliance led by BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is projected to get a thumping majority reaching ten seats short of the 300 mark in the Lok Sabha elections, according to projections from exit polls conducted by India TV-CVoter. The exit poll projections say, BJP on its own is going to win 250 seats and its allies 40 seats (TDP 9, Shiv Sena 14, Akali Dal 4 and others 13), taking the NDA tally to 290.The ruling United Progressive Alliance is going to bite the dust with the Congress on its own projected to win 78 seats and its allies 29 (RJD 9, NCP 5, DMK 6 and others 9), taking the UPA tally to 107.Among ‘Others', Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress and Jayalalithaa's AIADMK are projected to win 27 seats each, YSR Congress 14, TRS 8, Biju Janata Dal eleven, Samajwadi Party 11, BSP 8, and Left Front 20. The exit polls were telecast today from 6:30 pm onwards after the Election Commission deadline for telecasting exit polls ended. The exit polls project BJP may win a whopping 54 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, leaving 11 seats to Samajwadi Party, six to Congress, eight to Bahujan Samaj Party and one to Ajit Singh's Rashtriya Lok Dal.In neighbouring Bihar, BJP is projected to win 24 out of 40 seats, leaving nine to Lalu Prasad's Rashtriya Janata Dal, two to ruling Janata Dal {United) , one each to Congress and RLSP. BJP's ally Ramvilas Paswan is set to win three seats.In West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress is projected to win 27 out of a total of 42 seats. The Left Front is projected to win nine, the Congress four and BJP two seats.According to India TV-CVoter projections, the BJP is set to make a clean sweep of all 7 Lok Sabha seats from the national capital Delhi, completely reversing the 2009 performance of Congress, when it swept to victory from all seven seats. BJP is projected to win 26 out of 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh, 22 out of 25 seats in Rajasthan, and 22 out of 26 seats in Gujarat. The Congress, on the other hand, is projected to win three seats in MP, two in Rajasthan and four seats in Modi-ruled Gujarat. In the key state of Maharashtra, the BJP is set to win 17 seats, and its allies Shiv Sena 14 and Swabhimani Shetkari Paksha one seat. The NDA tally adds up to 32 out of 48 seats, with nine seats going to Congress and five to Nationalist Congress Party. Aam Aadmi Party and Bahujan Vikas Aghadi are set to win one seat each. The ruling BJP in Goa is projected to win both the LS seats, says the exit poll projection.In Akali Dal-ruled Punjab, Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal are projected to share four seats each, while the Aam Aadmi Party is set to win three and the BJP two seats. Congress is going to suffer a severe setback in Haryana. The exit polls project two seats for Congress, six for BJP, and two for Haryana Janhit Congress, a constituent of NDA. In Himachal Pradesh, BJP is projected to win three and Congress one seat, while in Uttarakhand, BJP isprojected to win four seats leaving the fifth to Congress. In BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh. BJP is projected to win eight and the Congress three seats, while in Jharkhand, BJP is set to win nine seats, leaving two for JMM, and one each for Congress, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha and an Indepndent.In Odisha, the ruling Biju Janata Dal is projected to win 11 seats, while the BJP is set to win six and the Congress four seats.In Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP is projected to win three seats, leaving two to National Conference and one to PDP.In the key southern state of Tamil Nadu, chief minister Jayalalithaa-led AIADMK is projected to win 27 out of 39 seats, leaving six seats for DMK, two for BJP, and one each for Congress, MDMK, DMDK and PMK. In two other southern states – Kerala and Karnataka, the ruling Congress is projected to win eight and seven seats respectively. BJP is projected to make a big comeback in Karnataka, with exit polls projecting 18 seats for the saffron party, 7 for Congress, and three seats for Devegowda-led Janata Dal (Secular). In neighbouring Kerala, the Left Front is projected to win nine seats, the Congress eight, Indian Union Muslim League two and Kerala Congress (Mani) one. In Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress leads with 14 seats, followed by Telugu Desam Party nine, Telangana Rashtra Samithi eight, BJP 3, Congress seven, and AIMIM one.The break-up : Out of 25 Seemandhra seats, YSR Congress is projected to win 14, TDP 8, Congress two and BJP one seat. Out of 17 Telangana seats, Telangana Rashtra Samithi is projected to win eight, Congress five, TDP one, BJP two and All Indian Majlis-i-Muslimeen one. Among the northeastern states, Congress is expected to win five, BJP six, Assam United Democratic Front two and Bodoland People's Front one in Assam. Congress and NDA are set to share one seat each in Meghalaya, while, Congress and Independent are set to share one seat each in Manipur. The lone Sikkim seat will be retained by Sikkim Democratic Front, while both the Tripura seats are projected to go to CPI(M).Congress is set to win the lone Mizoram seat, while Nagaland People's front, a constituent of NDA is set to win the Nagaland seat. Among the seven Union Territories seats, the BJP is projected to win three, the Congress two, the AINRC in Puducherry one, and Aam Aadmi Party one (Chandigarh).
