Patna: BJP today remembered party stalwart Kailashpati Mishra on his second death anniversary and said true tribute to him would be to usher the party to power in Bihar.

Senior BJP leaders Murli Manohar Joshi, Union Ministers Radha Mohan Singh, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Dhramendra Pradhan joined the state leaders in paying tributes to Mishra, who had served as party vice-president and former Governor of Gujarat.

Speaking on the occasion, Joshi said he first met Mishra in 1959 and was impressed by his down to earth nature, frugal lifestyle, concern for party workers, and a political life free of blemishes.

He said, “Let us pledge to form a pro-people government in Bihar, which will remain unaffected by monetary considerations.

Let us make a new and ideal Bihar.

This will be the best tribute to the great leader from this state.”

Echoing him, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said the real tribute to Mishra would be to fulfil his dream of forming a BJP government in Bihar before his next death anniversary.

Singh thanked Union Law, Justice, Communications and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad for issuing a special postal cover on Mishra, and hoped that the Department of Posts will issue a stamp on the departed leader by next year.

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan called for opening a training school in politics in his name so that young leaders could imbibe the values propagated by him.

Speaking at the event, Ravi Shankar Prasad, exhorted everybody to ensure that the ‘lotus' (BJP symbol) blooms across Bihar in the next state elections.

He asked party leaders not to speculate about who would be the Chief Ministerial candidate of BJP.

Hitting out at JD(U) leader and ex-chief minister Nitish Kumar, his one-time deputy and BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi challenged him to dissolve the Assembly and fight polls.

Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Nand Kishore Yadav, state BJP president Mangal Pandey and BJP national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain also spoke on the occasion.
