Patna: The BJP today said Bihar Chief Minister's efforts to build up a third front for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections would fail to shape up.  “There have been bids to set up a third or federal front at the outset of the LS elections in the past too, but the exercise has always failed to take shape, much to the disappointment of some regional satraps,” BJP national general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan told reporters.  Describing efforts of leaders of regional parties to work out a third front as “gathering of defeated and despondent leaders”, Pradhan said the experiment would fail this time too.

He also claimed people had already made up their minds to give a decisive mandate to NDA led by Narendra Modi.  Observing that there was an inherent contradiction in the likely contours of the prospective third front, he asked those spearheading this exercise to explain as to how they would bring Mamata Banerjee and the Left parties on board in West Bengal or SP and BSP in Uttar Pradesh.  Pradhan charged Congress with being behind the third or federal front arrangement this time, saying that the ruling party at the Centre would leave no stone unturned to stop Modi.
