Patna, Nov 04: CPI today claimed that neither UPA nor BJP would be able to come to power next time and said an alternative would emerge before the next Lok Sabha polls to fulfil the people's expectations.
“I am saying these things because the boat of UPA has already sunk and whosoever he may be to be projected as its prime ministerial candidate next time, the possibilities of the alliance coming back to power are ruled out,” CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan told reporters here.
“At the same time BJP is also not going to come to power ... let the senior party leaders undertake yatra after yatra or chief minister hold Sadbhavana mission,” he said.
A new alternative would emerge before the general elections and it would be favourably inclined to the left, he said.
Referring to Anna Hazare's movement against corruption, Bardhan said it was a positive step and criticised the move to find fault in the conduct of his associates.
“It is not going to serve any purpose and divert attention from the real issue,” the CPI leader.
The main objective of Anna's movement was for Lokpal bill and the CPI too had been fighting against corruption since long, he said.
