New Delhi, June 25: BJP MP Tarun Vijay Monday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to constitute a group of ministers for reconstruction of the Kedarnath region and to have the temple area cleaned up due to threat of epidemic.
Vijay, who visited Gaurikund in Uttarakhand Monday, told IANS: "The prime minister must immediately form a group of ministers for reconstruction of Kedarnath region and have the temple area cleaned up. He must interfere and take this up immediately."
He said the stench of decomposing bodies had spread about two km from Gaurikund.
"Stranded pilgrims had to make their way through dead bodies," he said.
Vijay, who is a BJP MP from Uttarakhand, also called upon private mobile service operators to put up communication towers immediately, saying that absence of networks had caused severe inconvenience to mobile phone users.
Vijay lauded the efforts of the army and other private and government organisations engaged in rescue and relief operations.
