New Delhi: The AAP-led government will table the Jan Lokpal Bill, over which Arvind Kejriwal had resigned from chief ministerial post after the proposed legislation could not be passed in Assembly last year, in Budget Session in June this year.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today said that government has started working on Jan Lokpal Bill.  “Started working on Jan Lokpal Bill,” the Chief Minister said in a tweet.

According to a senior official, government has started reviewing the draft of Jan Lokpal Bill introduced in February, 2014.

“Administrative department has started reviewing the old draft of Jan Lokpal Bill, which had been introduced during last 49-day AAP rule. And, if there is need to add new thing in the draft, government will do the same,” the official said.

In his last tenure, Kejriwal had resigned after he had been prevented from tabling his pet Jan Lokpal bill in the Assembly on February 14, 2014 in the face of stiff opposition from both Congress and BJP.

Kejriwal had then accused both parties of joining hands to defeat the Bill.

“Officials have been asked to review the Jan Lokpal Bill. After completion of this work, government will table the Bill during Budget Session in the month of June,” official said.

Official said that government is also working on “Swaraj bill”, but it might take a little more time, adding that government was very serious about both Bills.
