2G scam: JPC gives clean chit to Manmohan, Chidambaram
New Delhi: After two-and-half years, a parliamentary panel today finally gave a clean chit to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P. Chidambaram of any wrongdoing while blaming former telecom minister A. Raja in
Before that the BJP members had boycotted the panel meetings demanding the prime minister be called as witness but later started attending the meetings.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday complained that “a contrived majority” was used to adopt the controversial 2G spectrum allocations report at the JPC meeting Friday and said it would give a dissent note.
Talking to mediapersons after the Joint Parliamentary Committee meeting here, BJP leader Yashwant Sinha said the report was based on “wrong facts and falsehoods”.
”A contrived majority has been used unashamedly to adopt a report which is based on wrong facts, falsehoods and prejudicial findings,” he said.
Party leader Murli Manohar Joshi charged Chairman P.C. Chacko of being “extremely dictatorial”.
”The chairman in his behaviour once again was extremely dictatorial and dismissive of the points being suggested by large number of members in opposition. Suddenly he called for a vote,” Joshi said.
