At least four people have been killed and 22 others injured in a suicide car bomb attack in the capital Kabul, Afghan officials said today.

The attack on a convoy of military vehicles belonging to the NATO-led Resolute Support mission took place during the morning rush hour.

Najib Danish, deputy spokesman for the Interior Ministry, said today that the target of the bomber was a convoy of foreign forces.

Wahid Mujro, the public health ministry spokesman, said four bodies have been brought to a hospital so far. He also said 22 others were wounded.

He didn't say whether the casualties are civilians or military, but he added that the number could change from the initial reports.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack in Kabul, but the Taliban have increased attacks across the country since spring began.

The attack follows a threat by the Taliban to target foreign forces in the spring offensive that it launched last week.

Witnesses said traces of blood and clothing could be seen on the ground at the blast site. Kabul television stations earlier reported that at least three people had been killed.

There was no immediate comment from the Resolute Support mission in the capital.
