Set in sylvan surroundings, Chilkur Balaji is probably the only temple in India that does not accept any money, does not have a hundi to accept donations from the devotees, no green channel or privileges for VVIPs, and it fought and won the right to stay out of government control.
The temple attracts millions of pilgrims every year and is an ideal place for sequestered retreat and meditation.
