"This type of breach has never happened. The problem is the entire area is densely forested, there is dense fog, and the ground is not even. It's undulating, which allows the other side to hide", he added.



Asked whether the installing of thermal imagers has led to frustration among Pakistani soldiers who are unable to carry out infiltration of militants, Brig Tiwari replied in the affirmative.

He however added that thermal imagers normally do not work in dense fog. "It certainly appears to be a well-planned operation approved at a higher level", Brig Tiwari said.
