Govt schools record 99 per cent success rate in Class X exams

New Delhi, May 24: Delhi Government-run schools in the national capital have achieved a success rate of 99 per cent in the CBSE class X examination results announced today.





The overall percentage of students eligible for qualifying certificate in Delhi region went up from last year's 98.52 per cent to 98.83 per cent this year.  Delhi Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said a total of 2,26,003 students in Delhi Government schools qualified in the examination out of 2,28,240.  

“99 per cent students qualified in the examination which is almost equivalent to last year's percentage,” he said. Last year, Delhi Government schools had achieved a success rate of 99.09 per cent.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Lovely congratulated the Directorate of Education and teachers for their “untiring efforts” in imparting quality education in the government-run schools.

In the Delhi region, girls once again outshone the boys with 98.32 per cent of them becoming eligible for qualifying certificate against 97.57 per cent boys.  Expressing happiness over the outstanding performance by the Delhi schools, Lovely said in the year 2001-02, the pass percentage in 10th class examination was in Delhi Government schools was only 46.14 per cent which has gone upto 99 per cent.

“The result reflects excellent performance of the students of government schools in Delhi,” he said.  On behalf of Delhi Government, Lovely also conveyed his “best wishes” to the students who became eligible for qualifying certificate.
