Bihar mid-day meal tragedy: Absconding school principal Meena Devi surrenders before police after 9 days

Chhapra (Bihar), Jul 24: Meena Devi, the school principal, who absconded after 23 children died after eating poisonous mid-day meal, today surrendered at the Revilganj police station of Chhapra district, nine days after the incident

The principal Meena Devi has already been suspended. An FIR also has been filed against her under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy).



Bihar government has already terminated the services of Block Education Extension Officer Satyendra Kumar Singh, who was responsible for monitoring the midday meal scheme at Dharmasati Gandaman primary school in Chhapra, where the tragedy took place.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing the midday meal deaths.
