VHP leader Praveen Togadia today opposed the Jammu and Kashmir government's decision to drop cases of stone-pelting against youths, saying the move was meant for appeasing "pro-Pakistani" groups and has demoralised defence forces.

He said there should be no "double standards" in the country, and demanded that the cases against Hindus in 2002 Gujarat riots and those against 'gau rakshaks' (cow vigilantes) should also be dropped.

"The decision of the Jammu and Kashmir government should be withdrawn. If it comes into force, cases against Hindus in the Gujarat riots and against 'gau rakshaks' should also be dropped," he told reporters.

Commenting on "Padmavati", Togadia said the Centre should not allow the controversial film see light of the day.

He said no film could be allowed to distort historical facts and present objectionable content in the name of freedom of expression.
