A 27-year-old comatose patient, who was allegedly nibbled by a rat while in ICU last month, has passed away.
Though Parminder Gupta's family alleged that Gupta's right eye was bitten by a rat at civic-run Bal Thackeray Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari on April 23, the hospital administration has completely denied the charge. According to a PTI report, Gupta was hospitalised after he met with a road accident last year.
The patient had slipped into coma while in the Thane hospital, a hospital official was quoted as saying by PTI.
Doctors had advised his family to take him to Cooper Hospital for further treatment, but they refused, the official added. Meanwhile, an inquiry has been ordered in the case.
"Doctors at our hospital did their best to save the life of the patient but could not save him," the official said.
