For the research, insomnia was defined as sleep disturbance for at least three nights in a week. The patients suffering from insomnia are at risk of other health issues like depression, anxiety, immune deficiency and heart disease.

The people with insomnia are likely to have relationship problems three times more than people with normal sleep. They experience low mood, lack of concentration and lack of energy. Disturbance in sleep also causes uncontrolled weight gain or obesity.

The research found out that Yoga is actually a viable option to solve sleeping problems. It can help you have a sound good night sleep. Physical exercise, breathing techniques and relaxation yoga can help you to have restful sleep patterns.

The ancient physical exercise technique Yoga actually has one exercise devoted to sleep - Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra involves lying down and being talked through a mediation, visualization and breathing routines that help you to get into a state of conscious deep sleep.

This yoga should be practiced in the evening after work, within a couple of hours before going to bed.

Some other poses like Legs Up the Wall and Corpse help you to relax that can help in sleep.

An effective treatment for insomnia is really tough to find. Sometimes medication can be the appropriate choice but Yoga can be a great help in long term.
