Yummy treat! Learn how to make Chocolate cake in these simple steps

New Delhi: Chocolate! The word itself is so tempting and mouth watering, that it instantly brings a spark in anyone’s life. You would barely find a person who doesn’t love chocolate, irrespective of their age.

As Indians, we all have a habit of saying “kuch meetha ho jaaye” for every major occasion.

But how about giving your regular craving for ‘meetha’ a twist with a tempting chocolate cake?

Wondering that it would be quite expensive?

But what if you can get your hands on that yummy chocolate cake easily by making it all by yourself?

Yes! It’s possible.  

Here we bring you a simple recipe of Chocolate cake in easy steps to sooth your taste buds:

Ingredients (for cake):

Butter, eggs, sugar, flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda, vanilla essence and milk

Ingredients (for frosting):

Unsalted butter, milk, semisweet chocolate (melted and cooled to lukewarm), vanilla essence and powdered sugar.

Method:  

1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Simultaneously, grease and flour three 6" X 1 1/2" round cake pans.

2. Take 2 cups of flour, ¾ cup of cocoa powder, ¾ tsp baking powder and 1 tsp of baking soda and mix it well. Keep the mixture aside.

3. In a large bowl, beat ¾ cup of butter, 3 eggs and 2 tsp vanilla essence.

4. Take 2 cups of sugar and add gradually. Beat the mixture until well mixed

5. Alternately combine in flour mixture and 1 and ½ cups of milk to batter while beating.

6. Continue to beat until the batter is smooth.

7. Pour equal amounts of batter into greased and floured round cake pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.

8. Check with a toothpick to see if it is done. Bake for a few minutes more, if needed.

9. Remove from oven and allow cakes to cool in pans for a few minutes. Place cakes on a wire rack, to them allow to completely cool.

Method for frosting:

1. Melt 12 ounces of chocolate in a double boiler and allow it to cool until just warm.

2. Take 2 cups of unsalted butter in a mixing bowl and beat it until it turns creamy.

3. Add 3tbsp milk and 11/2 tsp of vanilla essence. Beat until smooth.

4. Add melted chocolate and beat it for 3 minutes

5. Add 3 cups of powdered sugar, beating on low until smooth and creamy.

The frosting is ready.

Now place one round cake on a cake plate and spread frosting on the top. Repeat this for all other cakes and frost it properly. Frost the cake from the sides. Make sure it’s done properly.

The yummy chocolate cake is ready to eat.
