'Nobody knows when Hinduism was born': Karnataka Home Minister's controversial remarks on religion

Addressing an event in Tumakuru, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said nobody knows when and how Hinduism originated in the country.

Congress leader and Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara gave a controversial statement on Hinduism as he questioned the origins of the religion on Tuesday. Addressing an event in Tumakuru, he said nobody knows when and how Hinduism originated in the country.

What the minister said? 

"Buddhism and Jainism originated in India, Islam and Christianity came here from abroad, but nobody knows when Hindu religion was born and who gave birth to it," Parameshwara said. 

He further said that several religions have emerged in the history of this universe but the question mark on Hinduism remains till today. Talking about Buddhism, Jainism, Islam and Christianity, the Congress leader stressed these religions came to India "to do good for mankind."

Udhayanidhi Stalin's controversial remarks on 'Sanatana Dharma'

It should be noted here that a controversy erupted after Tamil Nadu Youth Welfare Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin had given a controversial statement on 'Sanatana Dharma.' While addressing the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association in Chennai on September 2, Udhayanidhi likened the Sanatana Dharma to coronavirus, malaria, fever caused by the dengue virus and mosquitoes. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's son also referred to Sanatana Dharma as 'Sanatanam' in his address
