The grandmother of South superstar and Padma Shri award winner Allu Arjun, Smt Allu Kanakaratnam, passed away on Saturday, August 30. For the unversed, she was the wife of veteran actor Allu Ramalingaiah. According to 123Telugu, following her death, the Pushpa fame actor headed to the airport, and RRR actor Ram Charan cancelled the shoot of his upcoming film 'Peddi'.
Telugu actor Chiranjeevi took to his X handle and shared an emotional note on his mother-in-law's death. He wrote, "Our mother-in-law.. The demise of Kanakarathnamma Garu, wife of Sri Allu Ramalingayya Garu, is extremely heartbreaking. The love, courage, and life values she showed to our families will forever be an inspiration to us. I pray to God that their sacred soul attains peace. Om Shanti."
Her demise has left the family and well-wishers deeply saddened, with condolences pouring in from fans and industry colleagues. One user shared the throwback picture of Allu Arjun with his grandmother and wrote, "Allu Kanakaratnamma, Paternal Grand Mother of Allu Arjun, passed away today, may she rest in peace Stay strong @alluarjun anna, we're with you."

For the unversed, Ram Charan's upcoming action drama film 'Peddi' is written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana and is slated to hit the screens on March 27, 2026, according to IMDb. However, the official release date of the film is not known yet.
