Thugs of Hindostan opened in theatres on Thursday as a special Diwali release. Following the suit from the last year, Aamir Khan presents his most-awaited film this Diwali, however, it wasn’t received well by his loyal fans. Unlike Secret Superstar, Thugs of Hindostan opened to much negative reviews with most of the critics finding the film a below-average Bollywood film. Some even criticised the VFX of the film despite the fact that it was made with a budget of around Rs 300 crores. Yet, Thugs of Hindostan shattered all the records at the box office, becoming the highest opening Bollywood film ever. On its day 1, this Aamir Khan film raked in Rs 52.25 crores, becoming the biggest opener of the year, dethroning Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju.
On its day 2, the numbers did drop by half, remaining significant to call Thugs of Hindostan a box office success. According to the early estimates, this Amitabh Bachchan starrer earned around Rs 25 crores at the box office, hence making the total Rs 87 crores. In a span of couple of days, Thugs of Hindostan has reached very close to the 100-crore mark.

According to Girish Johar, Saturday is really crucial to determine the fate of TOH, being it a weekend. It will also decide whether the negative word of mouth affects the loyal fans of Aamir Khan.
The coming few days are going to be very pivotal for Thugs of Hindostan. Word of mouth play a major role is keeping a film steady at the box office. Since this action drama has already received flak from the audience, it’s too early to say that this film will recover its production cost (around Rs 300 crores).
Thugs of Hindostan Box Office Collection Day 1: This Aamir Khan film is highest Hindi opener with Rs 52 crore earning
Thugs of Hindostan had Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Fatima Sana Shaikh in the lead roles. It would be unfair to call Katrina Kaif the lead actress of the film since she was present only for two songs and four scenes altogether. Majority of the limelight in this Vijay Krishna Acharya film was hogged by Aamir Khan’s character Firangi Malla, which as a result, left Amitabh Bachchan and Fatima Sana Shaikh’s role subdued.
