Just like Taare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan’s recent home production venture Secret Superstar starring Zaira Wasim witnessed a slow start at the box-office. Directed by debutant filmmaker Advait Chandan, the film hit the cinemas halls on the big day of Diwali. The first day box-office collection of the much-awaited Diwali released film is out. Secret Superstar has collected Rs 4.50 crore on the first day of its opening, according to BoxofficeIndia.com report. The Aamir Khan film opened to 2840 screens worldwide.
On the other hand, Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Parineeti Chopra starrer Golmaal Returns, which released today opened to more than 4232 screens worldwide. This means that Rohit Shetty’s film enjoy higher screen occupancy as compared to Secret Superstar.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “SecretSuperstar screen count India: 1750 Overseas: 1090 Worldwide total: 2840 screens”. Furthermore, he added, “#GolmaalAgain screen count...India: 3500+Overseas: 732 - widest release ever for #Golmaal franchise Worldwide total: 4232+ screens”.
In Secret Superstar, Zaira Wasim played a young girl who aspires to become a singer but her father’s disapproval forces her to hide identity while uploading her first singing video on social media. Aamir Khan was seen in a cameo role as Shakti Kummaarr.
Talking about Secret Superstar, Zaira Wasim said, “This part came to me up as a challenge because I could not really connect to the character and her surroundings. I would say the character, Insia is a girl who is very dreamy and passionate about her one dream. She loves singing. She wants the world to know that she is the best singer. It all comes down to the fact that she has a dream”.
Now, it is Secret Superstar Vs Golmaal Returns at the box-office and, it will be interesting to see which of these Bollywood films will win hearts of the public.
