Actor Irrfan Khan and Kirti Kulhari starrer Blackmail is performing well at the box office. The movie has collected Rs 11.22 cr over the weekend. On the first day of its release, Blackmail minted Rs 2.81 cr. The numbers were shared by trade analyst Taran Adarsh on social media.
Taran took to micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote, “Blackmail uts up DECENT NUMBERS in its opening weekend... The BO performance is similar to #HindiMedium [₹ 12.56 cr], although that film had a lower screen count… Weekdays are crucial... Fri 2.81 cr, Sat 3.85 cr, Sun 4.56 cr. Total: ₹ 11.22 cr. India biz.”
The collection is quite similar to that of Irrfan’s another film Hindi Medium.
The movie received mixed reviews but Irrfan was praised for his wonderful performance. Blackmail depicts the life of a man who starts blackmailing his wife after he finds out that she is having an extramarital affair.
In the coming week, the movie will be fighting the battle with Varun Dhawan starrer October. It is yet to be seen if the movie manages to spell magic.
The film directed by Abhinay Deo and also featured Divya Dutta, Arunoday Singh, Omi Vaidya, Anuja Sathe, Pradhuman Singh Mall and Gajraj Rao.
