With less than 24 hours till counting, the controversies surrounding the validity of electronic voting machines refuse to die down. In the latest, Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Hardik Patel has accused that 140 engineers were hired by a company to hack 5000 EVMs.

"A company in Ahmedabad has prepared to hack the source code of 5000 EVMs through 140 engineers," alleged Patel in a tweet on Saturday night.

The young leader continued to list the districts where EVMs have allegedly ben targeted.

The allegations have been refuted by the local administration. "These are baseless allegations. I don't think any clarification is needed. Even if any clarification is to be issued, it will be issued by EC," Avantika Singh, Ahmedabad collector told media on Sunday.

Patel, however, pressed on the issue and urged the social media to not just laugh off the matter.

"If human bodies, made by the God, can be hacked then EVMs, created by humans, can be too. ATMs can be hacked so can EVMs be," Patel tweeted on Sunday.

Patel, along with majority of Congress leadership, has time and again raised the issue of EVM temperig by BJP. However, the charges have been categorically refuted by the Election Commission.

The EC has incorporated VVPAT machines in the voting system this time to ensure that voters can be confident that there vote went to intended party.
